Just trying to chill the hell out

T minus 24 hours until transfer, and I am fighting the urge to Google the heck out of "embryo transfer stories." I thought being back at work would help, but no such luck. It's funny, because the only thing I'm really dreading is the no peeing thing. Otherwise, between the acupuncture and the Val.ium I'm sure I'm going to be feeling juuuust fiiiiinnne.

In other news, the Mr. shot me in the butt with PIO when we were at our friends' house last night. It was pretty comical. I think I'm almost going to miss these exciting shooting up situations.

I had my transfer yesterday, and aside from having to pee like a racehorse after they were done, it was not bad at all. (And I really didn't have to go very badly during the transfer, aside from when the tech pushed down on the ultrasound to get a good picture. Otherwise, it was MUCH less pee-intensive than I thought.) Actually, the whole science aspect of it was fascinating; to watch the embryos from the lab into the catheter, and then into, well, me...amazing. And painless. Although there is nothing like being in the leg stirrups with a spotlight on your lady parts to make you feel modestly charming. You'll be great! I'll be sending you good thoughts!

I am going to echo babyinterrupted here. I did have to pee really bad, but I was so excited and also in awe, that it was not that uncomfortable. When the embryologist came in to tell us about our embryos, we were swooning. :)

I know you and your hubby were struggling with how many to put back in. They gave us a lot of helpful guidance and talked about the risk of twins. In the end, it is your choice, of course, and we sort of knew we wanted to put in two before we even got there. Anyway, just wanted you to know if you need help with the decision, they'll be there.

So excited for you! The baby(s) are coming home!!!

Hugs,
Carrie

Oh, good luck to you!! My clinic told me to be semi-full to full, but NOT painful for the bladder fullness. I hope it goes perfectly well for you. Grow embryos, grow!!

The transfer wasn't that bad for me either. Just a little uncomfortable when they were pressing down with the ultrasound. I'm sure the Valium will be a big help :) They don't do that at my office.

I love random shot giving. DH had to give me a shot in the middle on my nephew's first birthday party Sat. And tomorrow and Fri I have to have someone at work do it - luckily I work in a hospital.

The transfer is pretty low key; just like an IUI basically. It's more technical than an IUI in that they want to make sure to place the embryos in just the right spot, so you watch the whole thing on the ultrasound screen. The most uncomfortable part for me was having the ultrasound tech pressing on my abdomen while my bladder was full.

Happy transfer day! Enjoy the Valium. :-)
