The dogs, they are barking

The feet you see to your right are not happy. Yes, they were nicely pedicured just yesterday, so they look quite lovely (if I do say so myself), but they are in revolt. Revolt against high heels.

I love heels for so many reasons. They turn an ordinary outfit into something special, they make me look thinner (OK, maybe not so much now, but they make my legs look good and my legs are the only thing I've got going for me right now, unless you're into gargantuan boobs), and they are just so pretty.

But my feets, they are hating the heels. I had a work event on Tuesday night, and I could feel them throbbing, and radiating pain up my legs. And then they were swollen for two days after that. I've taken to wearing flat sandals or flip flops to work, and then changing, but that routine is starting to make me feel like someone out of Working Girl.

So, today I went shopping -- outlet shopping, no less! -- to try and find some sensible-yet-stylish low-ish heels. But I could not find any. NONE. I had money to spend and nowhere to spend it. And all of the gorgeous 4-inch heels in summer colors were taunting me. TAUNTING.

Help! Anyone have any suggestions? My tootsies will be forever grateful.

Sadly - no... I'm a girl who can't be without her heels. I'm dreading the day in this pregnancy that my feet tell me the same thing. What is summer with out some beautiful high heeled sandals to show off those legs? Plus - I just look short and stumpy in flats. If you find some that work - please let me know too!

oh hon, my heel days were left in 2007 when i got pg w/ nick and sophie. i still cant wear them w/o my feet screaming.

for summer, i suggest sandals. winter sucks though... no real cute flats (at least that i've found)...

Yikes! I can't help so much with the heel missing...as I can't walk in them to save my life.

I like the summer sandal suggestion, there are so many cute ones! Sorry your feet are having such issues right now. :-)

I'm so sorry that your feet are hurting. I have problem feet due to family trait we call "monkey toes". I found two ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS companies that makes shoes that are stylish, but also built for comfort. One brand is called Dansko and the other is called Softwalk. I wore these shoes while vacationing in Chicago, London and Wash DC. They made it for miles of walking and hours of standing in galleries. They are honestly as comfortable as my tennis shoes.

Check out any store that carries these brands:

I hope it helps!

Rheumatoid arthritis killed my heel addiction. I tend to go for fancy loafers (been wearing a pair of prada patent leather loafers for 2 years now). I slip on heel for meetings on occasion. Prada actually usually has some cool lower heeled shoes with thicker heels- definitely not sexy stilettos, but you get some height and they are always so comfortable. http://www.saksfifthavenue.com/main/ProductDetail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524446230526&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=282574492709182&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=1408474399545537&bmUID=1246804887525&ev19=1:11

also cole haan has some comfortable pumps as well.

I tend to buy an expensive pair and wear the hell out of them, or get a good deal on blue fly....

That sucks! I love the way my legs look in heels, too, but there is no way I could wear any right now. I would look like a cow on stilts, I fear.

I would also opt for sandals, and WEDGES! Even though they are tall, their wider base makes my feet happier, and they make lots of cute wedge boots and dressier heels for fall and winter. Hang in there!

I am on my feet all day for work so I am all about comfy shoes! I also love the Dansko brand. I just discovered that Cole Haan has a line of shoes that are made with nike air technology. I have one of the casual pairs and they are soooooo comfortable. I actually bought them at a cole haan outlet and they were half price. Here is the link to the dress shoes.

I'm telling you.. best shoes ever. i wear them as often as possible. and i think while that website is still open in another window, i am going to buy myself a red pair.

so comfortable. and i wear them with my very professional suits to work every single day.

On my event days for work I'm working on my feet for 18+ hours, so I found several brands a few years back. And, I love feeling sexy in heels, so this is hard for me. But necessary.

Dansko, Sudini and Clarks are the tried and true brands I wear. Seems to be that restaurant servers, nurses, and flight attendants all swear by them, too, and they get good reviews on Zappos. Good luck!
