Botching the dismount

A couple of months ago, I had a couple of mama friends over. We were all contemplating stopping the whole breastfeeding/pumping thing, and one of them commented: "I'm so used to eating whatever I want and chalking it up to breastfeeding. I hope I don't botch the dismount and gain a bunch of weight."

Well, folks, I have officially Botched The Dismount. I haven't exactly gained a bunch of weight , but I haven't lost any more either. I am stalled. Stuck. Stuck in a delicious jungle of carbs and red wine. I'm about 10 pounds lighter than when I got pregnant, but still about 10-15 pounds heavier than I was pre-IF. (And about 25 pounds up from my wedding, but hey, I'm not in my twenties anymore and that's OK.)

So, I am recommitting. Reattempting the dismount. Trying to break through the plateau. Insert metaphor here.

My goal: the elusive Size 8 pants. I've got my former favorite pair of charcoal grey flannel slacks (did I just use the word slacks? I really am a mom) hanging from the bedroom door. I want to get into them by Thanksgiving. I do not want my thighs to look like a pair of bratwursts.

This is my goal. I have thrown it out there to the world. Please hold me accountable.

Or just hold me. I miss carbs.

good luck! I started weight watchers almost 3 months ago and have lost almost 15 pounds, found the elusive pre-ivf weight (but remember it's been 2006 since I saw it, with two pregnancies/c's in between, it was messy). I am actually going for skinny college weight with 5 more pounds, but I'm not sure it is going to work as I've plateaued the last few weeks. Though I have time for exercise while it sounds like you're getting slammed at work. also the physical act of taking care of a toddler and baby burns a lot of calories!

I have just a few words for you. "The 30 Day Shred" Google it and you will find a almost cult like following of women who have lost weight doing this 20 minute workout. You cant get out of 20 minutes its just too easy. Well not easy but you will lose weight you will fit in those pants. I LOVE this workout and I have lost all of my baby weight plus 20lbs! You set a goal. Now go for it! Good luck.

I had such a hard time with this...I had done great while BF to get the baby weight off and was 5lb less than when I got pregnant (but still 15lb up from when we started IVF)....I stopped nursing (abt 7 months) and went back to work around 9 months and then with weight just creeped back on....10lbs!!! Yuck....and then my body did not want to release it....I made some progresse up and down over the next year but just never quite got there...and then...what did we do...? We decided to go for #2! So...back to the drugs and the cycles and the weight gain...the only thing saving me is gestational diabetes...I am now 8 months and weigh less than with my son so I am determined to do it right this time...AND...I really want to nurse the full year this time....I hope it works out.
