Baby steps

I can't believe it's been almost a month since I last posted. Well, I guess I can. The holidays and their attendant chaos have required some recovery time. And, to be honest, I've just been generally having a rough time. We're still working through some Marital Discord in the Barefoot household, and I've been having a bit of a pity party about it. Hopefully a temporary one -- because I'm losing serious patience with my sad sack self.

In happier news, the Chicklette is cuter than evah, and even took some first steps yesterday and today (both of which I missed, thank you business travel). I am relieved -- all of her little friends have been zooming around on two feet for quite some time, and I was starting to get a complex. We are full-on into table food, which has been messy and also a fun introduction to the many different textures of poop. And I'm pretty sure that the Chicklette has either a) developed her own language (baby genius!), or b) is being visited at night by aliens, because she is talking a mile a minute, very authoritatively, in a language that is very clearly not English.

So, life rolls along. Mostly good, some bad, but always interesting. And if anyone out there is still reading, happy new year!

I'm still reading! And I'm glad to see you post again- I was wondering how things were going. Hilarious about the Chicklette's own language. And yay for walking! Those first steps are so exciting. Glad to have you back...make sure to visit us again before another month goes by! :)

Still reading! I missed my Nugget's first steps...but I have to tell you that it doesn't take away at all the first time YOU actually see them do it!! It is amazing how PROUD you can feel for such a small thing...sitting up, standing up, walking, saying a word, eating with a spoon, etc.

Hope the marital discord resolves itself. These things happen. It's better to be going through growing pains b/c at least it means you are growing together.

I love baby language. Especially when they think they are speaking english. So serious about it.

Still reading and glad to hear about Chicklette. I am glad that she is beginning to walk. My son also has alien talk so they could probably have a nice conversation, lol.
Happy New Year to You as well-
Christy

Never introduced myself but I am finally coming out of lurkdom. I just want to encourage you to continue the blog as I really enjoy reading about your chicklette.

My daughter was born about 6 weeks after yours was and I have been right there with you dealing with juggling your career and motherhood. Oh yeah, and that thing called marriage. I felt your pain through breastfeeding and pumping at work with the calamaties that arise.

Keep hanging in there!! and don't forget to blog about it ;)

I hope the "discord" gets better soon! Chicklette is getting to be a big girl with her talking and walking. I remember when she was just a little circle on the U/S....they grow up so fast! ha ha!
Keep on with the updates!

you're back! glad to see it. Sounds like live happening to you ... sorry to hear that the Discord is still there, but it sounds like there is a move towards some resolution. In the meantime, revel is first steps and the language that is not at all English!

Don't you love the babbling - it's said with such certainty and conviction that I find myself really concentrating in hopes that I can work out what she's really saying. Can't wait until she let's me in on the secret.

I am laughing at your little one's babbling! Mine is doing that and she does it with such confidence and conviction that I am sure that I am mis-hearing her and she is really speaking English. At times I feel bad that I don't understand her and can't respond in kind! Yay on the 2 feet!!! Now, double check the babyproofing!!!!

It's so exciting that Chicklette is discovering walking and talking - at the same time! Hope the M.D. resolves soon. You all have been working hard at it for a long time now. Wishing for all the best for you all.
